Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — as a tenant you are responsible for leaving the property in a reasonably clean condition, similar to when you moved in (accounting for normal use). Failure to clean can result in deductions from your security deposit.
For comprehensive deposits or properties that need deep cleaning, professional cleaning services are advisable. Keep the receipt as evidence in case of any landlord dispute.
Normal wear and tear includes minor scuffs from furniture, slight discolouration of walls over years, and natural fading. It does NOT include mould from neglect, deep stains, or grease build-up in kitchens.
Pro Tips
Start cleaning from top to bottom in each room (ceiling fans → surfaces → floors).
Clean the property at least 2–3 days before handover date to allow inspection.
Keep receipts for professional cleaning services as evidence of good faith.
Restore any furniture or items you rearranged to their original positions.
